Dunkaroos Drops Limited Edition ‘DunkAshoes’ Sneakers with Reebok

Millennials waxed nostalgic about the modest Dunkaroos. A snack time favorite that disappeared for years until, suddenly, they were back.

And boy are they ever back, now embracing the modern world with an appetite for branded products like fully customized sneakers that you can only get on certain online platforms.

The hand-painted Reebok sneakers (called the DunkAshoes) were designed with sneaker customizer Katty Customs. They feature the brand’s teal, purple, yellow, and magenta color scheme; as well as a removable Dunkaroo keychain/tag and an insole printed with the cookies design.

Like a lot of snack food and apparel collaborations, the DunkAshoe is going up on the NTWRK platform on March 27 at 3 PM PST. Brands like Cheetos, Panera, Burger King, and more have used NTWRK for special edition merchandise drops.

Sneaker collectors are all about exclusivity and hype. For some, it doesn’t really even matter if they like the brand collaboration, or the design at all. If they can get their hands on a grail item, they will.

This reminds me a little bit of what Nike SB did with its special-edition shoe that came in a box that could turn into a skate obstacle, and looked like it was sawed into pieces.

For brands looking to capitalize on hype or draw excitement, there aren’t many better options than sneaker drops.

But, if you don’t want to go that route, distributors can at least take note of this program to see how the design integrated various colors from the brand, the motifs of the vanilla dipping sauce with sprinkles, and the cookies themselves as attachable keychains.
